The RCIA is a process
for adults who wish to begin their journey or complete their
journey towards full membership in the Roman Catholic Church.
Some have never been baptized; others have been baptized
in another faith tradition and now want to explore the Roman
Catholic Church. Still others have been baptized Catholic
but have not received Holy Eucharist or Confirmation.
The RCIA process
is a spiritual journey of conversion, changing the heart
and transforming the spirit. Those in the process are prepared
for sacramental initiation (reception of Baptism and/or
Confirmation and Holy Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil;
During the weekly
meetings members of the parish RCIA team, other parishioners,
and guest speakers cover a variety of topics including the
Bible and its application to our daily lives; the life,
person, and teaching of Jesus; History of Christianity;
structure of the Church; the sacraments; morality and the
Christian life. Besides learning about the faith participants
reflect on their lives and the presence of God in them,
and come to know Christ more deeply.
