FAITH FORMATION OF CHILDREN PRE-K to 8 The faith formation or catechism of any individual begins in childhood and ends at death. A child's first teachers are his parents and family members. His ongoing faith formation continues when he enrolls in school or in the parish religious education class. San Rafael parish provides ongoing faith formation programs for its parishioners through
REGISTRATION FOR GRADES Pre K- 12 will take place after all Masses on the following Sundays in August 26th, September 2nd and 9th. Room 6 & 7. enter from the Parish Center. KIDS' WORD The children's Liturgy of the Word occurs during the 10:30a.m. Mass on Sundays from September through late May. Children in grades 1-5 leave the church for their opening of the Word on their appropriate age level. Catechists guide them through the Word with various activities and end with the Creed and the Prayer 01 the Faithful. The children return to the church at the Offertory of the Mass. (Coordinator: Christine Anderson) SUNDAY PRE-SCHOOL MINISTRY The Sunday Pre-school program [provides appropriate religious activities for children ages 3-5 coordinated by our catechists. Classes are held in Rooms 1-4 which are located on the lower level of the Parish Center. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION- GRADES 1-6 Grades 1-6 meet weekly after school in the Parish Center classrooms, Monday through Wednesday afternoons between 4:00 and 5:15p.m. On Thursday's session is offered from 2:00 to 3:15p.m for Grades 1 -5.. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION- GRADES 6,7, AND 8 On Sundays we offer one class each for grades 6,7 and 8 from 10:30 to 11:45a.m. On Wednesday evenings from 7:15 to 8:30pm. SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION Our Sacramental classes prepare our students for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. This is a two-year program in which the children learn their prayers, become acquainted with Jesus and learn about God's love for us through the sacraments. Sometimes an older child is late in his formation. He, then, is enrolled for a year in a regular class. On the following year he completes his preparation in the Sacramental Preparation class. Five (5) of Community Service for Reconciliation due. February 2, 2008 Sacrament of Reconciliation Church 10:00a.m. March 5, 2008 Manadatory Parent Meeting for 1st Holy Communion, Parish Center 7pm. April 26 , 2008 First Commurnion Retreat Parish Ctr. 9:00 - 12:00 Service Crafts, Video and Q/A Five (5) hours of Community Service for Eucharist due. May 12th - 15th 2008, First Eucharist Rehearsal - Parent and children, during class time. May 17, 2008 Sacrament of First Eucharist, Church at 10:00a.m. RESPECT CONTRACTS and STUDENT PICK UP AND TRAFFIC POLICY Respect Contracts for Grades 1-5 and the Middle Grades as well as the Student Pick Up and Traffic Policy are available for you to print out, sign and return to your child's catechist. All those registered in FIRST GRADE or are NEW TO THE PARISH must provide us with copies of their Baptismal certificates. You can print out a copy of the Registration Form from the webside and return it to us.
